She is influenced by people and object; place and memory. Music, travel and feeling informs her evolving and deeply intuitive practice. Predominately using acrylic, spray enamel, oil sticks and pastels, Hayley manifests lived experiences and imaginations onto canvas or board in a distinctly free and polychromatic way. A way that connects her back to herself. Colour is an integral part of expression in Hayley’s life; from fashion to art. Growing up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney is a fundamental influence of her practice, closely tying Hayley to nature, the ocean, adventure and living sensibly with the land.

  • “My dad is an artist and architect. My brother is an artist and art curator. My sister is an artist. My aunty is an artist and dress-maker. My other aunty is a sculptor. My great-uncle is a brass sculptor. My grandpa painted theatre sets. My grandma was an artist and a commercial illustrator. I paint because I am the way I am. I was born to express myself in this way. It is how I think, and all I want to do.”

It is important to Hayley to stay exactly true to the way she is.
